The Fashion Design Council of India does a remarkable job hosting the bi-annual demonstration of the best traditional, fusion, and western style Indian Designer fashion - and the 2014 event was no exception!
The star studded event was one not to be missed, showcasing a stunning and unique variety of luxury designs. We have selected some of our fashion highlights from WIFW that are sure to get you excited for what is in store this year!
Vineet Bahl's show was packed full of pretty Indian designer fashion including off-white's, sheer materials and gold embellishments – even though it wasn’t your typical Spring/Summer collection, it stood out for its beautiful and intricate details. This stunning sheer ivory sari featured intricate embroidered floral patterns displayed across the pallu and a blouse teamed with unique transparent sleeves, created a stand-out piece.
Joy Mitra's spring/summer showcase featured beautiful A-line skirts, heaps of gold detailing and layered fabrics. This blue and gold lehenga stood out as being the perfect spring ensemble, as the blue satin fabric was both fresh and elegant.
The western silhouettes seen in Bhanuni by Jyoti's show were a welcome contrast from the runway's otherwise traditionally Indian designer fashion. This floaty beige gown was both classy and fabulous, drawing an innovative architectural creativeness for the top part of the dress. This outfit stood out to us a fun, stylish ensemble that would be perfect for an outdoor summer party or wedding ceremony.
We love this super cool cut-out dress from Rehnu Tandon’s Secret Garden Collection, The slightly gothic black floral lace pattern layered on top of sheer material is both unique and stunning, and extremely different from the colourful florals you’d expect for a summer collection!
Last but not least, Poonam Dubey's Shakti collection channelled the modern day indian goddess. This unique twist on a traditional lehenga featured a variety of patterns, including traditional gold floral detailing on the low necked blouse teamed with bright stand out colours. A match made in heaven!
