The much anticipated Lakme India Fashion Week Summer Resort 2015 is now over, and it was certainty a memorable event not be missed!
The spectacular event showcased a huge variety of talent - from the biggest names in Indian fashion to some of the most promising up and coming Gen Next designers. With an eclectic mix of both talent and creations, we saw vast amounts of garments and styles paving the way for this year's biggest trends. Within these trends we saw a enormous influx of stunning contemporary styles take the runway by storm.
Here are the top contemporary collections that stood out to us from Lakme Fashion Week 2015:
Designer Shubhika Davda showcased a eccentric yet cute and classy contemporary collection named ‘Twitterpated’ as part of her ‘Papa Don’t Preach’ label at Lakme Fashion Week Summer Resort 2015. The showcase featured Sophie Choudry as the showstopper of the event, looking pretty as ever in a highly embellished sherbet mint toned two piece, with decadent bead and crystal work.
The collection was the epitome of girly, quirky fun comprising of summery and contemporary silhouettes such as mini dresses, skirts, shorts, playsuits and rompers in opulent fabrics like organza, silk tissue, chiffons, net and satin. The colour palette of the collection comprised of sherbet hues of bold mint, coral, peach, gold, pastel blue, and soft pink.
Shubhika Davda also added cute and feminine accessories to her Lakme Fashion Week 2015 collection in the form of fluffy pom pom earrings, embellished clutches, suitcase purses, sparkly stilettos and oversized fluffy umbrellas. The stunning collection was highly embellished, comprising of laser cut acrylics, mirror work, beading, crystals and even faux leather, creating a distinct couture feel to each individual piece.
A trademark element of each garment was a statement heart in the centre of each piece, made up of intricate mirrors and crystals.
Highly sought after designer and celebrity favourite, Nishka Lulla showcased an impressive collection at Lakme Fashion Week Summer Resort 2015. The designer is known for her bohemian contemporary style and showcased a relaxed and calm collection that will be perfect to beat the scorching summer heat whilst also staying stylish.
Nishka’s collection embodied an easy-to-wear vibe that was both versatile and unique. The colour palette consisted of dreamy pastel tones such as icy blue, ivory, and soft grey with iridescent detail teamed with light and floaty fabrics such as muslin and organza laces.
The contemporary collection upheld a fuss-free and down-to-earth sensibility: unmatched two pieces were teamed together to create stylish looks that were both practical yet feminine with a contemporary edgy twist. We loved the relaxed and floaty silhouettes that gave the whole collection a distinct romantic feel.
Showstopper Esha Gupta walked the ramp at Lakme Fashion Week Resort Summer 2015 for Arpita Mehta looking gorgeous in a sequined number. The beauty looked breath taking the fairy tale like gown!
Designer Arpita Mehta brought a stylish, contemporary and cheeky collection to the ramp for this Lakme Fashion Week Summer Resort 2015 that completely blew our minds. The colours of the collection consisted of soft and soothing tones teamed with brighter sunny hues, perfect for the summer season.
A particular favourite of ours were the net gowns and kurtas with intricate embellishment and unique layering. Arpita included stunning detail such as appliqued mirror-work flowers as well as contemporary geometric georgettes and gota designs. To add a additional touch of grace to her whole collection, Arpita also launched her stunning limited edition line of hand embroidered shoes named “Bedazzle” as part of her Lakme Fashion Week Summer Resort 2015 collection.
