Two extremely impressive Indian Fashion Weeks have now passed, and throughout these two events we have seen a comeback of the 2013 trend, saree gowns!
This trend has now emerged as one of the most elegant and desirable silhouettes in Indian Fashion.
Lakme Fashion Week and Amazon India Fashion Week are always an exceptional source of up and coming trends and bridal inspiration. The outfits seen at these events are often extravagant, unique, and contemporary - which means there is a lot to be learned for your own wedding/wardrobe selections!
Although it might not be practicable to purchase the high-end designer saree gowns of your dreams from these events, it's still a fun pastime to review the upcoming trends and to stay ahead of the crowd with the latest fashion knowledge, from the perspective of some of India’s best designers.
This year’s most utilised and desired garment that has been showcased at Indian fashion weeks so far is without a doubt the much-loved saree gowns. An enigmatic mix of both fluidity and construction, the saree gown silhouette combines the six-yard saree classic structure with the simplicity and practicality of the zipped-up staple gown. The result? A light weight and easy to wear saree that won't unravel and be an annoyance when you hit the dance-floor at a wedding!
One Designer that featured an impressive and opulent range of saree gowns within his Lakme Fashion Week collection was Sabyasachi Mukherjee, showcasing his fabulous Resort 2015 line. The collection left the audience in awe as they witnessed a spectacular presentation featuring a whopping 62 models and 105 outfits. Being one of the most sought after and admired designers in India, and also around the world; Sabyasachi unleashed a jaw dropping collection of wearable resort wear that featuring a huge variety of silhouettes, textures, colours and fabrics.
The show opened with upbeat 70's hit songs, followed by an influx of stunning pre-stitched saree gowns, with shimmering hemlines, stylish floral patterns and sheer net capes. These beautifully constructed silhouettes were teamed with opulent colours such as reds and greens with shimmering gold detailing and embellishment.
The collection also consisted of a number of stylish and contemporary silhouettes such as jumpsuits, palazzos, layered capes, column dresses and gilets, that all continued to mesmerise the fashion lovers that attended the event.
We shall certainly be adding a saree gown to our Spring/Summer wish list this year!
