Lakme Fashion Week 2014 was definitely one to remember, showcasing the season’s most awaited and unique fashion trends, as well as India’s biggest and most loved designers.

Here are our top picks and best bits from the star studded event:

Manish Malhotra showcased his stunning Gloss inspired Indian Cocktail dress collection, presented at the huge finale of Lakme Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2014. The collection definitely lived up its name with a stunning glossy theme. Manish presented his breath-taking collection which included lavish couture-ensembles, and was an innovative and glamorous twist to Indian bridal couture, whilst still representing Manish’s signature style.

Varun Dhawan surprised us all with his extraordinary collection at the opening of the show. The highpoint of the stunning show was Kareena Kapoor Khan, the superstar of the show and face of Lakme Absolute, as she showcased a dazzling and stylish look. She sashayed down the runway in a sparkling silver kurta with a glamourous low back, worn over a shaded glittering transparent lehenga and a extraordinary grey cape embellished with applique rose motifs and detailed lace.

Indian handlooms definitely stood out and stole the show on Day Two of Lakme Fashion Week 2014. We saw an influx of vivid colours to ethnic dyeing techniques; the catwalk was a real desi vision as the Ministry of Textiles distinguished and celebrated Indian Handlooms and Textiles Day.

The day was unveiled by the Textiles Minister Santosh Gangwar. There were a number of stunning ensembles showcased to present individual pieces that featured with brightly coloured eco-friendly foliage style prints and the occasional traditional painting print on silk and crepe sarees with unique fringed petticoats, sequined blouses, and pretty A-line skirts. Actress Shriya Saran was the definite star of the show in a floral print crepe saree with a lightly embellished scoop-neck green blouse. A definite highlight for us.
