Lakme Fashion Week is on its way and it’s looking to be the biggest and best yet. But its not just the big names and designers that are causing a stir, its also the young and talented Gennext designers. There are around six new and exciting talents that shall be presented at the approaching Lakme India Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2015’s platform named Gen Next, an exciting programme that has launched some of the fashion industry’s most popular designers, such as Rahul Mishra, Aneeth Arora and Swapnil Shinde.
All of the chosen partakers of its 19th Next gen batch with be directed and guided by none other than one of the country’s popular fashion designers Anita Dongre.
We have selected our favourite up and coming designers from the Gennext participants, and are looking forward to seeing what they have in store for Lakme India Fashion Week 2015.
Our first choice is New Delhi’s National Institute of Fashion Technology graduate Kanika Goyal, who will be showcasing a unique line that celebrates the wild dispositions that result from from the deafening stillness of night time. This collection is titled ‘Creatures of the Night’ and reflects a sense of provoking minimalism. Her collection is also fuelled by inspiration that stems from travelling around the urban streets of New York to view and perfect the art of Italian tailoring.
Next is Manish Bansal, the Delhi-based menswear fashion designer who has drawn his inspiration from the popular concept of gambling for his big catwalk showcase, with the collection entitled ‘Suits’. Manish’s design philosophy is centred around social-economics that have the means to start meaningful dialogues. His design methodology is showcased through the sue of detailed surface ornamentation and an innovative use of textile design.
When explaining the concept of Manish’s range, he stated that the collection implies a subtle pun on the word ‘Suits’ – stemming reference from that of a suit of cards or as a suit that is worn by a important and significant person.
Last but not least of our favourite Next gens to to be gracing Lakme India Fashion Week 2015 is Delhi-based designer Ankit Carpenter who will feature a cactus-inspired collection at the Lakme India event. Complete with soft and feminine origins in an extremely modern and classic way. The collection itself is based on minimal cuts and chic silhouettes with a timeless style, which is sure to get heads turning at the event!
