Lakme Fashion Week has officially begun and it has started with a bang! Day 1 of Lakme Fashion was filled to the brim with talent and innovation, as well as a variety of spectacular new talent from the Gen Next designers.
We have so far seen designers opening Day 1 with their summery collections all geared up and ready for the hot long summer. The handful of Gen Next designers showcased at the event have definitely taken fashion and upcoming trends to the next level, impressing the on the fashion forward onlookers.
The one designer who mesmerised us from the get go was Salitha Nanda. Her collection was certainly the most colourful collection we witnessed at Day 1 of Lakme Fashion week, but also challenged boundaries in terms of innovative silhouettes. She went for bold geometric patterns and Picasso style artwork decorating the garments, teamed with bright contrasting colours. The designer also added unique headgear and knee high roman sandals to create an ultimately eye-catching collection.
The second designer to showcase at Day 1 of Lakme Fashion week was Kanika Goyal, who threw a refreshing retro style into the mix. This Gen Next aspiring fashion designer focused on a stunning summery colour pallet teamed with fresh denims, which will be the perfect combo for your summer wardrobe! The shades she showcased on the ramp were delightfully bright and complemented the retro styled clothing perfectly.
Alan Alexander gave us a glimpse of elegant summer whites and clean cuts with his Lakme Fashion Week collection. We saw flowing materials attached to her ensembles teamed with feminine sheer fabrics in contrasting shades of black and stark white. We also loved the simplistic but interesting face paint worn by each of the models, added an artistic flair to the collection.
We were even lucky enough to witness a Bollywood celebrity showstopper on Day 1 of Lakme Fashion Week 2015! Sagarika Ghatge from 'Chak De!' walked the ramp for Pallavi Singhee. The actress showcased a soft cream, embroidered lace dress and looked stunning as she sashayed down the runway.
Pallavi Singhee's Summer Resort collection consisted of soft shades of pink and yellow on the ramp. As anticipated, we also saw a variety of light colours like white, creams and trendy nudes teamed with feminine floral motifs on subtle lace creations, that brought a perfect dash of feminine summer fashion on the ramp.
Designer Priyanka Ella successfully commenced day 1 of Lakme Fashion Week 2015 with an elegant Japanese touch. Her collection consisted of pure serene whites and was simply stylish and elegant. The ‘wabi-sabi’ garments were crafted with layers of flowing material teamed with unique chunky footwear that matched perfectly well with the loosely fitted white garments. Designer Priyanka Ella also combined hints of bold blacks into the collection to suit those who can’t help but lean towards the popular colour!
