IIFA 2017 recently had New York City quite literally buzzing with Bollywood drama. If the shenanigans on-stage weren’t enough there was also plenty of off-stage fallout to keep the rumour mills churning, gossipmongers satisfied and the media lapping it all up. What with the nepotism shade thrown Kangana Ranaut’s way by Karan Johar, Saif Ali Khan and Varun Dhawan or the criticism over actors like Akshay Kumar and Aamir Khan being overlooked for nominations despite having the biggest hits of 2016 and lastly censor chief Pankaj Nihlani’s customary rant over how the event further aggravated his already over-sensitive moral compass.
Controversies and gossip aside IIFA was a rare 3-day treat for Indian fashion addicts. If you’re a true Bolly-file your Insta feed and Snapchat stories were likely filled with posts from all your favourites preening, pouting and posing for the promos and the green carpet. As always that little boomerang or the always way-too-short story wasn’t enough for you to truly feast your eyes on the magnificent splendor of movie star glamour. Plus credits don’t always mention labels and designers so you might find yourselves hopelessly lusting after a particular look with no way to know how to make it your very own. So getting right to it presenting the best looks from IIFA 2017 with all the deets.
The Bhatt lass can no longer be classified as the girl next door having finally emerged from her cocoon transformed as a style maven. Giving some major black swan vibes in a dark plunging neckline Zuhair Murad ball gown embellished with crystals, Alia Bhatt scored big style points. Her slicked back hair and minimal diamond studs completed this sweet and sassy look.
Award winner and debutant Disha Patani has been creating some major fashion waves since her super successful role in the MS Dhoni movie and link up with teen heartthrob Tiger Shroff. The lovely Ms. Patani showed off her fabulous bod in a glittering gold Falguni and Shane Peacock creation. The nude make up, messy yet classy updo and matching body chain completed this ultra sexy look.
Also sticking with glittering gold theme was the bodacious yummy mummy Shilpa Shetty. She wore a Grecian inspired custom Monisha Jaisingh gown in a molten rose gold hue. The thigh high slit and low back fused with strategic drapes accentuated her insanely toned body that is still the envy of every Bollywood diva. Statement earrings from L’Dezen by Payal Shah and laid back old Hollywood waves finished off this risqué yet classy look.
Katrina looked absolutely resplendent in the ‘Snow Crystal Forest’ gown by Ziad Nakad erasing every memory of the disastrous red and gold saree from IIFA Rocks. The princess gown seemed to magically change colour from blue to grey depending on the light adding to the mystical allure of the entire ensemble. Voluminous straight locks, a ring by Nirav Modi and diamond earrings from John Hardy brought together this charming ethereal look.
The often-demure Sonakshi Sinha took a massive fashion risk that paid off brilliantly. She offset the IIFA green carpet in an avant-garde sparkly red bodycon gown by LaBourjoisie. The puffed shoulders and deep nude mesh neckline beautifully tread the delicate balance between costumey and high fashion. Poker straight hair that displayed the statement Chopard earrings in all their glory provided the finishing touches to this sophisticated and bold look.
