The Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week Spring Summer 2014 edition has just finished. The extravaganza was held from October 9 to October 13, 2013 and was the 22nd edition of WIFW. 115 leading and upcoming designers from across the country took part in the show and the accompanying exhibition.
The final days of the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week 14 were characterised by a sense of nostalgia mixed with feeling of celebration for the accomplishment of another successful season for the indian fashion world. Many designers surprised their audience with magic atmospheres and memories from Indian landscapes. The finale night ended with a party hosted jointly by Fashion Design Council of India and the Ashok Hotel, in which designers and celebrities made their appearance in a very glamorous styles.
A lot of the traditional stalwarts of the Indian fashion industry were missing from the event, but there was a healthy dose of very talented younger designers, who have set the themes for SS14 in style.
Ashish N Soni opened the Grand Finale show with his collection titled "La Dolce Vita". Models walked the ramp in colourful peplum dresses, polka dot shirt, trousers, flared skirts, jackets, short satin dresses, trench coats, ball gowns, dinner jackets and tuxedos.
Joy Mitra presented an elegant and classic line of womenswear, named after Rituparno Ghosh’s film Chokher Bali. The colour palette focused on white and black using cotton and sheer fabrics, while the collection included beautiful long floor length gowns with brass coloured embroidery and thick gold borders.
Krishna Mehta showcased her new collection made in collaboration with the weaving community of Varanasi or Benaras. "The Magic Woven...by Krishna Mehta", is characterized by tasteful designs and vibrant colour combinations on garments.
Aneeth Arora surprised the audience with her delicate collection including checked and striped outfits like jackets, shorts, tunics, shirts, dresses and long skirts, mixed and layered to give a circus touch to a world traveller look.
