As with variety in any form it's always intriguing the very different ways a saree can be draped and it is positively a mystery worth unravelling. The question of actually draping a saree is another thing and it is not an easy one as could be proven by anyone who has tried this admirable task at least once.

It takes skill and patience and if you are a novice you are bound to suffer failure at least a dozen times. But with the assistance and skill of an accomplished saree wearer, the aficionado in you would pull off this feat with minimal complication.

The importance of wearing a saree is that you drape it in such a way that it looks elegant and not clumsy, for in the right hands this piece of cloth can create magic, but in not so sure hands it could go as far as looking dowdy.

Most Indian women are experienced in the art of draping a saree as it has been a daily routine for many of them and has been passed down from mother to daughter through the generations. It could look dignified and on the same terms seductive and elegant just on the basis of the hand draping its numerous folds.
