The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge finished their seven day tour of India and Bhutan last week, but the visit is still the talk of the town.
Their Royal Highnesses, Prince William and Kate Middleton, landed in Mumbai on the morning of 10th April, 2016.
The royal couple were given a grand welcome in the evening by the royals of Mumbai, the Bollywood fraternity. The high profile party organised in their honour was one of the highlight events for the royal couple.
The royals took centre stage at the lavish dinner held at the Taj Mahal hotel near the historic Gateway of India at Mumbai. The evening was also a glamorous red carpet display of Bollywood fashion in all its glory. And as you all know, we are not ones to miss out on a chance to gawk at the latest Bollywood style!
Kate Middleton and Prince William were dressed to the nines to reckon with Bollywood fashion. Kate was an epitome of grace in the striking blue Jenny Packham gown. The gown displayed gorgeous Indian style embellishments. She also chose to go monotone in her choice of accessories which included the lovely drop earrings and a clutch. Poised elegantly next to Kate was Prince William looking dapper in a timeless black tuxedo.
The hosts for the evening were the Bollywood’s Badshah, Shah Rukh Khan and the internationally acclaimed actress, Asishwarya Rai. SRK made a surprising choice of white jacket for the black tie evening but he totally ruled the look. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan looked resplendent in a nude saree by Sabyasachi. Madhuri Dixit Nene also opted for the delicate saree look - she chose a Shyamal and Bhumika sheer net embroidered saree for the occasion. The Bollywood fashion choice for the evening had an old world British charm with pastel hues, mostly nudes and gossamer fabrics.
Alia Bhatt opted for a soft peach tea-length dress by Manish Malhotra. Jacqueline Fernandez broke the vintage colour palette for the evening with a pop of red embroidery over her peach Manish Malhotra outfit. Sonam Kapoor who can be called as the ambassador for Bollywood fashion, looked ravishing in an ivory coloured Indian inspired outfit by Elie Saab. Sophie Choudhry also graced the evening in a gorgeous Manish Malhotra gown.
Parineeti Chopra’s flared pants and abs baring crop top by Manish Malhotra did justice to her new svelte form. Shilpa Shetty’s Monisha Jaising pale pink saree looked amazing with a mirror worked blouse. Aditi Rao Hydari too sported a Manish Malhotra creation with a neatly parted hairdo. Huma Qureshi gave a lesson on how to make a great statement even when you are not size zero.
Karan Johar and Anil Kapoor opted for classic blacks to make a statement for men’s Bollywood fashion. On the other hand, Arjun Kapoor and Manish Malhotra were accomplices for the midnight blue look. Sachin Tendulkar and his wife Anjali also enhanced the style quotient of the evening.
Neetu and Rishi Kapoor also had a rendezvous with the royal couple in their elevated Bollywood fashion statements. The royals gracefully walked to each dining table for a personal interaction with every A-list guest at the venue, which included industrialists and socialites too apart from the Bollywood who’s who. The guests were charmed by the graciousness of the royals who made every guest feel special during their brief interaction.
Kate herself is an impeccably dressed fashionista who has impressed everyone with her eclectic choice of outfits across the country. The opulence of style and elegance knew no bounds when the fashionable royal couple met the surreal Bollywood fashion.
