The Best and Worst Long Evening Dresses from Cannes 2015
23 rd May 2015

The Cannes Film Festival is renowned for being one of the swankiest and fashion forward events in the star studded showbiz calendar, but with such pressure to stand out from the crowd and impress, comes plenty of room to get it horribly wrong.

When it comes to Cannes, the Celebrity’s seem to become significantly braver with their outfit choices. All rules go out the window and the celebs are left to their own devices to showcase their individual style and personality, whether it be a long evening dress or a whacky two piece.

First up are the celebrity ladies that hit the nail on the head with their fabulous outfit choices, these starlets had us wishing we were them.

Kendall Jenner is the epitome of cool, and this outfit is just that. It may not be your traditional long evening dress, but the look is so effortlessly stylish and chic that we seriously cannot fault it. Although a lot of the other looks on the red carpet have been a lot more glam, Kendall’s look is slightly more edgy and unique, which is what makes it stand out from the crowd. We also love how she teamed the look with a simple tousled middle parting and red lip, subtle but oh-so chic.

Araya A. Hargate absolutely blew us away with this look in a spectacular long evening dress by Ashi Studio. In contrast to a lot of the more skin bearing ensembles we saw on the red carpet, this look stood out for it’s sheer elegance and regal appeal. The intricate embellishment and feather work teamed with the stone grey colour gave the gown a unique and regal look that suited the beauty perfectly. Araya teamed the look with yet another middle parting up-do and red lip, our favourite hair and make-up look from the event.

Last but not least, Petra Nemcova was another clear favourite of ours on the Cannes red carpet. She wore a Zuhair Murad Couture spring/summer 2015 gown in a soft purple hue that was simply stunning. The strapless long evening dress featured intricate ruffles and a voluminous skirt, which looked great teamed with a simple clutch and a loose up-do.

Next up are the ladies that didn’t quite get it right. Here are our top fashion blunders from Cannes 2015:

Rachel Weisz went for a simple approach in a Calvin Klein Collection long evening dress, but it was underwhelming to say the least. Instead of chic Rachel ended up looking slightly drab and out-dated. The silhouette did nothing for her figure, which is a shame because we liked her natural make-up and subtle soft curls.

Cara Delevingne normally looks great no matter what she wears, but we really weren’t feeling this Cannes look from the model. The long evening dress looks more like something you would wear to a wedding or a garden party rather than at Cannes, and the silver shoes also do not do the look any favours. A big thumbs down from us.

We loved Immy Waterhouse’s hair and make-up but we really weren’t impressed with her long evening dress choice. The gown is extremely simple and didn’t suit her shape at all, the colour also over powers her fair skin, resulting in her looking slightly washed out. Definitely not a favourite look of ours from Cannes!
