The awards season is here again and it is pouring accolades on the movies and its makers who enthralled us in 2015.
When it comes to the awards season the red carpets create a big stir with the gorgeously dressed celebrities. This awards season, from Bollywood to Hollywood the red carpets are dazzling with the stars. Here is our pick of the best of the bunch so far.
Outstanding movies like Piku, Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Bajirao Mastani made their mark in Bollywood in 2015. The 2016 Bollywood awards season mostly commemorated these excellent movies and their talented creators, actors and singers. The awards season also brought forth extraordinary style statements from the ruling stars of Bollywood.
The most popular awards function of Bollywood is the Filmfare Awards, which are often referred to as the Oscars of Bollywood. It is one of the oldest Indian cinema awards that was instituted in 1954. It still remains the most sought after award for the Bollywood fraternity. The 61st Filmfare Awards added glamour to the Indian awards season on 15th January 2015. Renowned actor Shah Rukh Khan and famous comedian Kapil Sharma hosted the grand event and had the audience in fits of laughter.
Deepika Padukone, who won the award for the Best Actress for her role in Piku, looked ravishing in a red Ralph and Russo gown. Although Athiya Shetty is the new style icon to watch out for and she made her mark in a blue Monisha Jaising outfit. Alia Bhatt made a fashion statement with different coloured beige and orange shoes that matched her printed dress. Sonam Kapoor and Aditi Rao Hydari looked chic and sophisticated in Anamika Khanna and Gauri & Nainika respectively.
Parineeti Chopra looked lovely in the cut-out gown by Shivan & Narresh. Mayur Girotra’s black gown gave a slender silhouette to the endowed actress Huma Qureshi. Sonali Bendre looked gorgeous in the Manish Malhotra gown. The actress and her black and white gown, exude the timeless charm.
Ranveer Singh was at his flamboyant best in Tom Ford black and white geometric jacket. Actor Irrfan Khan made a unique style statement with a Rohit Bal bandgala and jodhpuri pants.
Another event that enjoyed popular attention this awards season was the 22nd Star Screen Awards, which was held on 8th January 2016. The star studded evening saw intense performances from young stars like Ranveer Singh and Varun Dhawan. The night was a total Bollywood entertainment package interspersed with red carpet entries, accolades and awards.
Sonam Kapoor managed to stand out from the rest of the crowd in her Elie Saab black jumpsuit with a cleavage baring collared neckline. Deepika Padukone wore a frilly white skirt with a bustier top by Abu Jani - Sandeep Khosla. While the skirt was a too flouncy, Deepika nailed the look with a high bun and her graceful walk. Sonakshi Sinha rocked the minimalistic look in a burgundy Gauri and Nainika gown.
Jacqueline Fernandez opted for a frilly ruffled saree by Abu Jani - Sandeep Khosla and pulled the look with great panache. Princess like ruffles and frills seem to be the preferred choice among the stars this awards season. Aditi Rao Hydari also did not fail to amaze with her classy Gaurav Gupta gown look.
This youngest event of the Bollywood awards season had its first show in 2003. This year the Stardust Awards night was held on 21st December and it set the ball rolling for the Indian cinema awards season.
Aishwarya Rai won the award for Power packed Performer of the Year and her net gown by George Hobeika was a winner all the way. Sonam Kapoor was spotted dressed up smartly in an Ulyana Sergeenko midi length strapless striped dress. Alia Bhatt did justice to her style sense in a Sachin and Babi gown.

Following Stardust Awards, the 11th Renault Sony Guild Awards was held on 22nd December 2015. This notable event of the awards season captivated everyone with power packed performances by Sonakshi Sinha, Priyanka Chopra, Kriti Sanon and Ayushmann Khuranna. The movie Bajirao Mastani won nine deserving awards at the Renault Sony Guild Awards 2015.

The show was hosted by Jane Lynch and it commenced the awards season for Hollywood. The award is a platform to recognize popular culture and is decided on the basis of people’s votes.
Our Bollywood lady PeeCee looked stunning in a Vera Wang shimmery dress and Jimmy Choo pumps. Kate Hudson’s strapless white jumpsuit made a delightful presence on the red carpet. Dakota Johnson’s strap sleeved hugging gown looked striking with her simple hairdo and makeup.

The 21st Annual Critics’ Choice Awards ceremony was conducted at the Santa Monica's Airport Barker Hangar in California on January 17, 2016. The award was instituted to honour the finest achievements in movie making. Critics’ Choice Awards has become an integral part of Hollywood’s awards season and this year the show was hosted by T J Miller. 2016 also became the first year of Critics’ Choice Awards to bestow honours on the television fraternity.

This year's Bollywood and Hollywood award season has presented us with some amazing red carpet moments. While most of the great events of the awards season have come to an end, we are still awaiting the international best, 88th Academy Awards, which is to be held on February 28th 2016. The Academy awards will definitely be a grand finale to the awards season of 2016 and we just cannot wait to fashion police its red carpet.
