Anamika Khanna has been named the grand finale designer of the Lakme Fashion Week Summer/Resort. This will be the second time that the self-taught designer will be closing the Lakme Fashion Week, the previous occasion being LFW-Fall/Winter 2009.
She will be working with Lakme beauty experts to create stunning looks for the summer this year. "I am thrilled to be part of such a milestone and look forward to present my collection at the grand finale of the most sought after event in the Indian fashion scene. The Lakme beauty statement yet again is very unique and I'm excited to begin working on my collection inspired by the Lakme statement of the season." said Anamika Khanna, on being chosen as the finale designer.
Anamika Khanna is known for her outfits that are a beautiful amalgamation of Indian design elements and modern silhouettes. Her label, Ana-Mika has received overwhelming response in both domestic and international markets. Her designs are a favourite among many Bollywood celebrities.
Sonam Kapoor is a long time loyalist, so much that the first time she walked the ramp, she wore an Anamika Khanna. From then on, she has flaunted the designers’ outfits at a number of outings, most noteworthy of them being the red carpet at Cannes 2014. The couture saree dress designed by her created tremendous buzz, both for its drape and styling.
She picked an Anamika Khanna yet again for the Filmfare Awards 2015. She rocked the separates that comprised of a lace bodice paired with a satin draped skirt, teamed with a cape.
Anamika Khanna has travelled extensively and showcased her collections in major fashion capitals like Paris and London. Her signature style includes dhoti sarees paired with jackets or tops that are exquisitely designed. The drape gives her outfits a fusion look, making more impact than a regular saree would. She also loves adding capes to her outfits that are either dotted with elaborate embellishments or have eye-catching prints, adding an edgy touch to the ensemble. You can find her playing with prints and layers, juxtaposing Indian and western design philosophies to create dramatically appealing outfits.
The last time Khanna brought down the curtains at the Lakme Fashion Week, she received plenty of positive reviews that went on to establish her as a name to be reckoned with in the Indian fashion industry. The expectations from her this year are high, given the standards she has set for herself. We are sure that she will bring in a fresh new collection that will set trends in the fashion industry this year.
