Indian weddings are known for their vibrant series of ceremonies and their fun and grandeur. As the Indian wedding horizon is slowly expanding, more and more couples are seen to opt for a lavish destination wedding. From Thailand to Greece, weddings are set against an exotic backdrop with out of the box additions of beach ceremonies and pool parties.
The preparation behind an Indian wedding is vast, yet the actual wedding ceremonies seem to pass in a blink. As such, it is significant to capture these special moments through photographs.
It has been a couple of months since Ami and Miraj’s gorgeous destination wedding, yet we still can’t help but admire how glamorous of an event it was. The event consisted of a melting pot of vibrant festivities from the get go, starting with the mehendi, the wedding ceremony, the beach party to the cocktail reception.
Amidst the flurry of wedding preps and with getting ready seeming like déjà vu every now and then, the gorgeous couple, Ami and Miraj had a moment of pleasant recluse and made the most of the sensational sunset. What do you get when you put a couple against a stunning backdrop? That’s right! The photography team, Kumar Photo + Cinema, whisks them away for one last photo shoot before the final party.
What is especially spectacular is the timelapse, with the sky painting a beautiful picture in ombre shades of powder pink to vibrant orange to a mysterious blue hue. From the final precious rays of the sun to its disappearance, each image speaks perfection and sums up the love between the newlywed couple in the most amazing way. Whilst each individual image is stunning, when looked at as a series, the end results are indeed stunning.
Bride Ami picked a blush hued, embellished Strand of Silk bridal lehenga by Raakesh Agarvwal for her reception and photoshoot. Her outfit was perfect against the background of the sunset on the Cancun, Mexico beach and created magical moments, reminiscent of a fairytale wedding. Ami recalls feeling like an absolute princess in this ensemble, with the bridal lehenga glimmering with every subtle move. The outfit strikes a contemporary chord with a crystal embroidered corset and an exquisite fish-tail lehenga. The dupatta or veil further puts the R in regality with its embellished border, attached to an elegant silver embellished arm band. All in all, this ensemble looked absolutely stunning on special bride Ami.
Raakesh Agarvwal is indeed a master who skillfully creates outfits that speak volumes with their elegance, beauty and sophistication. He has a repertoire of creating elegant ensembles including bridal lehengas, sarees and dresses and Ami’s pick was simply perfection for her special day. Whether a special occasion, wedding or photo shoot with your better half, Raakesh Agarvwal’s designs are simple perfect. A selection of outfits in a shimmering ombre palette by Raakesh Agarvwal can be shopped here.
Elegance was taken a notch further with Ami’s hair and makeup, done by Style by Susmita. Wanting to opt for a natural, glowing and pearlesque look, Ami looked like perfection on the day, with her dark wavy hair cascading down her shoulders. The minimal jewellery placed further emphasis on the gorgeous shimmer of the bridal lehenga and the breathtaking backdrop. Ami also looks extremely at ease in her ensemble and this shows through the photography series, with the couple seen posing naturally and oh so in love.
For grooms, the best option would be to opt for a simple, smart and sophisticated sherwani. Miraj is seen wearing a classic black sherwani with a subtle embroidered collar which adds a regal touch. The matching pocket square adds to the sleek aesthetic and creates a striking effect. Not only does Miraj's sherwani complement Ami's bridal lehenga, but it also looks amazing in the photographs.
For those brides dreaming to do a sunset inspired photoshoot with their better half, opt for lehenga that complements the colours and serene surroundings. In this sense, avoid ensembles that are over the top in embellishments and scream loud colours, as this will overpower and take away from the elegance of the series of photographs. Seeing the end result of the photoshoot images, Ami was indeed pleased and thought the Raakesh Agarvwal lehenga was the perfect outfit choice!
The same philosophy goes for the groom, who should complement his bride. Avoid a splash of colours and abundant embellishment. To shop for simple and sophisticated sherwanis, browse various Indian designers from Siddartha Tytler to WYCI here.
Overall, Ami and Miraj's shoot suggests that you don't need to opt for over-the-top wedding photoshoot ideas. In fact, a beautiful beach setting, a sunset, a gorgeous couple and a dash of spontaneity was all that was needed to make this wedding photoshoot a reality and a spectacular success!
