All The Deets On The #AntuMoh Wedding

Bolly fans were surprised and excited when #AntuMoh suddenly started dominating the social media feeds of all their favourite celebrities. A quick google search revealed that it was the kick off for 2018’s big fat Bollywood weddings as the witty hashtag announced the nuptials of Mohit Marwah and long time girlfriend Antara Motiwala. Don’t be alarmed if you can’t recollect these names instantly. You haven’t developed Bollywood amnesia.

This particular wedding was hugely trending not because of the bride and groom but thanks to the illustrious guest list. That’s not to say that the couple aren’t noteworthy themselves, because they both are extremely accomplished in their chosen fields. Mohit has done a few movies, short films and television shows in addition to helping manage his father’s businesses. While the bride Antara Motiwala is a social butterfly and when she’s not smooshing with the whose-who of Mumbai, she’s working as head stylist at Conde Nast, India. But if neither of these professions strike you as glamorous enough to attract the inner circle of Bollywood then here’s a little more perspective.

Mohit Marwah is the son of Sandeep Marwah, founder of Noida Film City and Reena Marwah, sister of Boney Kapoor, Anil Kapoor and Sanjay Kapoor. So if you excelled at family tress in school then you’ve probably worked out that it makes him cousin brother to Bollywood stars Sonam Kapoor, Rhea Kapoor, Arjun Kapoor, Jhanvi Kapoor and Khushi Kapoor. Not to mention extremely close friends with pretty much every other major Bollywood family. The star-studded guest list suddenly makes sense now, doesn’t it?

The long-time couple finally tied the knot in a 3-day extravaganza at the Waldorf Astoria in Ras Al Khaimah, UAE. It was a hardcore Punjabi wedding, which meant there was plenty of dancing, unlimited family bonding and so much food and drink that all the starlets must have rushed home to juice cleanses and detox diets. The grandeur of the setting was matched effortlessly by the sizzling style quotient of the guests in attendance. Being the competitive lot that Bollywood celebrities are, its very likely that this wedding was no different than a major red carpet event. Some fashion critics have even claimed that the entire event was the longest and grandest Manish Malhotra show, as almost everyone seemed to be dressed in his label.

If that makes you doubly curious about all the sartorial choices then here is the low down on who wore what at the celebrations.

Antara Motiwala

If would be impossible to talk about the style at any wedding without featuring the bride and her outfits. The beautiful and svelte Antara looked sun kissed and glowing in a floral Manish Malhotra lehenga at the mehendi. She picked a quintessential Sabysachi Mukherjee lehenga that made her look like a golden goddess for the wedding. And yet another sultry and short Manish Malhotra number for the retro theme after party.

Kiara Advani

The stunning actress picked Manish Malhotra outfits for every occasion and yet looked completely different every single time. She wore a hot pink Benarasi lehenga for the mehendi, a sexy metallic and feather gown for the cocktail party and an embroidered ivory lehenga for the wedding.

Khushi Kapoor

Teenage fashion influencer Khushi is definitely a potential stylista in the making as she managed to turn heads in her delicate yet striking ensembles. She wore a Hawaiin hulla girl inspired floral lehenga with a flouncy off-shoulder crop blouse by Manish Malhotra for the mehendi. She stuck with the designer yet again for the sangeet as she emerged looking like an angel in an all-white and nude lehenga teamed with a sensuous full sleeve crop blouse. For the cocktail she broke away from the norm of gowns and wore an almost avant garde Falguni & Shane Peacock lehenga studded with crystals and a cupped blouse with white oversized organza sleeves.

Rhea Kapoor

With her ace styling skills it would be ridiculous for Rhea Kapoor to turn up dressed like everyone else and she didn’t disappoint on that front. For the mehendi she created quite a stir with her Anamika Khanna lungi outfit and white sneakers. The cool quotient spilled over into the cocktail too as she chose to pair an Anamika Khanna saree with an Alexander McQueen blazer.

Arjun Kapoor

It takes some really dapper looks to stand out as a gentleman amongst so many stunning ladies trying to out do each other, but Arjun Kapoor did a damn fine job of it. His layered trench, trousers and vest look was absolute #autumndressinggoals! for trendy men everywhere. His ethnic looks didn’t were equally impressive. He was seen in a long velvet open sherwani paired with a purple kurta by Manish Malhotra for one of the events. Followed by a Raghuvendra Rathore Nehru jacket and kurta set for the wedding.

Sonam Kapoor

The family fashionista was a little bit MIA during the festivities but did make an appearance with boyfriend and possible fiancé Anand Ahuja. She seemed to be present only for a short while, giving some of the functions a miss. With the release of her movie Padman just around the corner, she was probably a bit preoccupied with promotions. Unfortunately there weren’t too many pictures and outfit details available. She wore a black and gold long kurta paired with a marsala lehenga for the cocktail. At the wedding she picked a yellow and white saree with an embroidered blouse.
