Zara Shahjahan began her successful design career in 2004 after graduating from the esteemed National College of Arts (NCA) in Lahore. Over a number of years her design house has grown substantially due to her understanding of different cultural genres of style. She opened her flagship store in her own hometown of Lahore in 2012.
She is the known as a successful emerging talent in the fashion industry of Pakistan. She is a unique Pakistani fashion designer with her own innovative and individual style, and one of the key people behind the revitalisation of trends in Pakistan, through her strong relationship with both culture and heritage. Zara Shahjahan’s renowned womenswear prêt-à-porter Spring/Summer 2011 collection titled “Represent” was essentially designed and created for Lahore’s modern women. This collection was an embodiment of her signature style, with a use of light linens with a flawless mix of heavy embroideries with subtle embellishment, creating a strong contrast and unique look.
Zara's specialism in Miniature Arts at NCA has greatly refined her design skills and attention to detail as a pattern maker. She covers a large spectrum of Luxury Pret, Western Wear, and Couture, all with equal elegance and refinement. She is extremely passionate about all things vintage, an element that she blends into her own unique style. Her extravagant couture collections are lavishly detailed with intricate Gara embroideries, Swarovski crystals, and traditional handcrafted embellishments.
Zara Shahjahan believes clothes are a large part of a woman's personality, and inspires woman to feel confident in what they wear.
The huge demand and lust for her Pret wear led to the creation of her second label, titled ‘Coco’ that specialises in ready-to-wear casual wear that combines ease, quality, and style. Zara is also the lead creative designer for lifestyle brand, So Kamal Pret.
