Urvashi Joneja graduated from the National Institute of Fashion Technology in New Delhi, being awarded the Best Practical Graduate Collection in 2005. She was quickly noticed and hired by Indian designer powerhouse Rajesh Pratap Singh, with whom she worked with for a year before moving to New York where she studied at Parson’s School of Design. For the next four years, Urvashi Joneja worked in design, merchandising and brand management in various global brands including Diesel, Timberland, Ralph Lauren and Versace both in New York and India. In 2012, Urvashi Joneja took the leap from working for designer brands to launching her own.
Her label ‘Urvashi Joneja' works to create an amalgamation of familiar shapes to create less conventional silhouettes. Her use of surface textures, embroidery, printing and other ageing techniques help create a dark and often unique undertone. The foundation of her label is made up of complex detailing, precise pattern making and exceptional craftsmanship.
