Ragini Ahuja is still fairly new on the fashion scene; as a graduate from the National Institute of Fashion Technology, New Delhi in Fashion Design, she claims that she was initially more drawn towards illustrations and graphic art than the fashion scene. This can be seen in her edgy illustrations and animated graphic details in her designs.
Her first appearance on a national level was during Lakme Fashion Week 2013. It was here where she showcased her menswear inspired womenswear collection. The collection was designed to be tough and edgy whilst maintaining a hint of feminine drape. Ragini Ahuja incorporates western style silhouettes which can easily be amalgamated into Indian society. Ragini Ahuja’s label IKAI which can be translated from Hindi to mean “One” is a brand that introduces traditional Indian skills into a predominantly contemporary collection.
Her designs are normally identified and set apart from others as a result of her boxy designs with androgynous silhouettes, structured cuts and delicate drapes.
Her collection was chosen as one of five finalists in the prestigious Vogue India’s Fashion Fund, Ahuja has since won over both fashion critics and enthusiasts; she is truly set to have a flourishing career.
