Amrapali Jewels is a jewellery house founded in 1978, and the company designs and creates tribal, fine and uncut gemstone jewellery. The concept of the brand was the result of Rajiv Arora and Rajesh Ajmera’s interest in Ancient India - also the basis of the designer’s graduate program.
The brand traces its roots back to over 4 decades to when Rajiv Arora and Rajesh Ajmera saw locals in states like Odisha, Gujarat, Rajasthan wearing tribal jewellery that literally had them in awe of where this came from. They quickly turned their hobby into a permanent job when they began searching everything from bazaars, local stores and pawnshops for the bizarre and beautiful pieces worn by the local women they had seen. Unfortunately, at these times, the areas were suffering from drought and famine, so much so that the pieces were being sold, melted for silver and recycled. Luckily the two travellers understood the historical value of these jewels and started buying them from the locals.
Today the brand Amrapali Jewels consists of two high tech factories and a 12,000ft headquarters and the company employs more than 2000 people. Amrapali Jewels has won a number of awards including The Leaders of Tomorrow Award in 2012 and The Highest Export Award of the year in the state of Rajasthan for consecutive years since 2010. Other awards include, Best Unique Heritage Jewellery, Heritage Jewelry Award of the year in 2012 and nomination for the Best International Jewellery Brand Collection in 2012.
