Yogesh Chaudhary is an Indian designer who is known for surprising the pubic with every collection. Under his label 'Surendri' he has designed a number of different lines that are all recognisable for the distinct patterns he uses.
Recently he participated in Lakme Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2015 presenting his new collection called “Mithu”. For the first time his creations appeared with a particular focus on the bridal demand.
The main characteristic of his bridal pieces is the low prices. While going around with his fiancé (they are getting married at the end of the month), he noticed the huge expenses that a bride is expected to pay whilst searching for her perfect bridal outfit.
Yogesh has stated before that Indian designers are mainly focused on the high-income segment while the rest of the market is completely ignored.
The main problem is that many women nowadays are looking for something that is at the same time both special and low priced, something that seems impossible. This is why Yogesh's most expensive lehenga costs just Rs 75,000.
His collection includes statement outfits; destination wear, Indian eveningwear, resort and day wear garments. The collection is also inspired by what surrounds him, in this case the birds he saw perched on mango trees near his studio. He created different motifs using parrots drawings and feathered tails and took advantage of some techniques such as appliqué, hand embroidery and foiling.
The fabrics used throughout the collection are mainly georgette, dupion silk, tulle and chanderi, with a result in terms of prices and quality that is simply unbelievable.
