Award winning Indian Fashion designer Wendell Rodricks showcased his collection titled “Yoga Calm” at the Spring/Summer 15 edition of Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week (WIFW), with a particular aim in mind: dedicating his yoga range to famous Bollywood actress Bhanurekha Ganesan commonly known by her stage name Rehka.
Rehka has had a respectable career in the film industry and recently turned 60. As such, this was the perfect opportunity for the designer to pay homage not only to the star, but also to a very close friend. The Goa-based designer explained that Rekha had been like a muse in his head while he was creating his collection.
In association with the Ministry of Textiles and the Government of India, Wendell Rodricks show was inspired by tranquility and calm that results from Indian spiritual practices, playing with shapes, fabrics, and the color white. For this collection he maintained his signature style by using hand-woven textiles such as khadi, cotton and linen, but in a more modern way. He wanted his creations to be wearable, comfortable and make every Indian woman and man feel beautiful.
Wendell Rodricks thanked the government for promoting Indian handloom and for their support to the Indian Fashion industry. The Indian fashion designer was proud to honour Indian textiles on the fourth day of the Spring/Summer 15 edition of Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week.
