Notable Fashion Designer Tarun Tahiliani has returned to the SoPritti event in Dubai this year with a whole new collection inspired by life size sculptures of hemp and cast bronze created by the well known Mrinalini Mukherjee. SoPritti is a Fashion and Art event held in Dubai that showcases the most exclusive and glamorous exhibition. At Sopritti last year, Tahiliani had presented his TT.DIY collection that consisted of separates like kaftans, tunics and dresses in fun cuts, colours and prints.
The present collection focuses on creating a three dimensional feel to the flat digital printing and make use of textures in chanderi, fringing and crochet. This has been done by way of thick chenille yarns that have graphic textures. These handloom fabrics are then combined with modern silhouettes in the form of dresses, capes and concept sarees to reflect the concept of sculptures by way of clothing and fashion. Tahiliani was blown away by the sculptures and the idea of the unexpected textures and contours and the folds and drapes immediately began to take shape in his head.
Tarun Tahiliani is not the only fashion designer from India that is taking part in the glamorous event. Other designers who will be joining him include Anju Modi, Rimple and Harpreet Narula.
