Tarun Tahiliani on Fashion, keeping it Indian and Shilpa Shetty
Keep it Indian: Tarun Tahiliani
11 th Dec 2010
Tarun Tahiliani & The New Democracy collection was showcased as the grand finale of the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week on the 27th October, 2010. Among the showstoppers was Shilpa Shetty who walked down the ramp wearing a tuille embroidered bodice with a layered tuille lehenga. Even Chitraganda Singh was seen on the ramp wearing a beautifully designed silk blush saree belted and encrusted with crystallized elements. The collection has its origins from various colors of Indian soil and dust, which are as diverse as our culture and people according to Tarun. Sarees, dresses and kaftans were prominent throughout his show and one could see the focus on textured handloom and daytime silhouettes in The New Democracy. The rich textiles, prints, fabrics, weaves and colors that India has to offer have been taken into consideration in his latest set of the Spring Summer 2011 collection. Compared to other designers who participated in the fashion week, Tarun has once again stuck to what he does best by keeping his clothing style very Indian. It was a show one cannot forget as the set was beautifully done up with two large trees lit up with orange, yellow, green, blue and red along with a group of Sufi singers playing live in the background. In the end it was the music that lured Shilpa Shetty and other models dancing to Sufi tunes.
