"People in Hyderabad have always been trend-conscious, but the fashion scene right now is better than ever," said Shravan Kumar, a designer based our of Hyderabad. The designer has been a regular participant at numerous fashion weeks, so his perspective is indeed valuable. The designer adds that, "People now understand what to wear at a party or a cocktail and at a formal do. They are also very discerning about how they accessorise themselves, the footwear and fragrance they wear depending on the time and occasion. There is no more mixing of genres"
Shravan Kumar was talking about the increasing presence of international brands in the local stores in the city. The increasing presence of international brands obviously is great for customers as it afford them choice and at the same time makes styles accessible to everyone. Previously, the elite would travel to the larger cities to shop and that is the way they had access to the latest styles.
"People are really investing in branding themselves and looking good these days. And it is not limited to the fairer sex. Even the men in the city are investing in looking great," said Sindhura Suri, a city-based image consultant. Hyderabad has the potential to be one of the greatest retail destinations in India.
