Designer duo Shivan Bhatia and Narresh Kukreja, most famous for their swimwear collections, believe it’s time Indian women started embracing their curves.
The designers used their spring / summer collection at Amazon India Fashion Week to showcase just what they wanted to see when they spoke about Indian women showing off their curves. The collection changed the face of swimwear completely, introducing innovative new ideas through a change of texture, cuts and materials.
Involving everything from maillots, bikinis and trikinis, the most interesting of the swimwear range being the bikini saree, this featured in their lines quite extensively. "The swimwear is all about invoking a sense of playful sophistication on resort lifestyle. The cuts are new so are the techniques," Narresh kukreja said.
The duo have added some embellishments to the destination wedding saree to make it even more appealing. "The summer is exciting. Not only there are an introduction of the range of accessories from bags, shoes but the reinvention of the brands signature sarees" Shivan said. They went on to point out how the extravagant and distinct colours featuring in their spring summer collection was inspired by the Mexican artist, Diego Rivera.
As with everything Indian, there was also some chaos during the show which was held in the garden of the Imperial Hotel; one of the white gate installations collapsed as a model was trying to push it open. The outdoor show also had a number of different insects attend the show, uninvited of course!
