In an interview with DNA recently, Indian fashion designers Shivan and Narresh and Little Shilpa talk about their creations at the Blenders Pride Fashion Tour held in India recently.
Blenders Pride Fashion Tour was a glamorous affair with live music by Midival Punditz and this definitely set the mood for the models that showcased Little Shilpa’s edgy collection along with a classic and elegant cruise line by designer duo Shivan and Narresh.
Little Shilpa’s collection was undoubtedly eye catching and presented her trademark statement neckpieces, masks and headgear. Her accessories definitely stood out as she kept the models attires simple.
Known for her unique designs, Little Shilpa presented three of her new collections: Black Magic, Disco Denimals and Grey Matters. The designer blends denim with animal iconography and discotheque themes in her Disco Denimals collection while her Grey Matters line features offbeat inspirations from the norms that are associated with India’s most famous silhouettes- the saree and the katori choli blouse.
Shilpa says that she is brave enough to make her own decisions and she rarely cares about what other people say or think. She believes that being true to individual sensibilities is important and she makes it a point to ensure all her designs are able to have a coherent story.
Delhi- based designer duo Shivan and Narresh are celebrating their collection that is an ode to the modern Indian woman of today. These designers left the audience spellbound with their swimwear collection that incorporated gemstone tones of cerulean, topaz, rose and ruby. Their collection displayed vitality and luxury for lavish vacations that made audiences minds wander and dream of exotic holiday destinations.
Shivan and Narresh classify their collection as bold, elegant and confident and when asked about what inspired them to create this line, the duo replied saying that they intend to sell confidence through each of their pieces. The designers believe that India is still old fashioned for swimwear and there are many consumers who believe that bikinis aren’t meant for Indian women.
The most eye-catching piece from Shivan and Narresh’s collection was the gorgeous striking red bikini-saree that was worn by Sushmita Sen who was the showstopper for the show. The bikini-saree is a unique piece made for customers like some Indian women that aren’t entirely ready to just wear a swimsuit.
