Talented designer duo Shantanu and Nikhil are about to add another feather to their already adorned cap, by opening up their first men’s flagship couture store in the city of joy, Kolkata.

The store’s grand opening will be followed by a fashion show to showcase their latest men’s collection, which will portray vintage fashion in contemporary form. The driving inspiration behind their new collection is a story of the ‘Prince Unknown’.

In a statement, Shantanu said, “We have always been inspired by the colonial vintage era, the architecture and the rulers of that time. Those royals had a different lifestyle. We have taken an inspiration from that royalty for our collection that will be unveiled in a grand setting."

When asked why they chose Kolkata for their menswear store, Shantanu said that “Kolkata has a unique blend of old world charm, heritage, tradition and colonial architecture, the elements that resonate in our collection. Also, we have had so many trousseau buyers from Kolkata at our stores and they have a keen sense of design. We have been inspired by real stories of people who come to us."

Hunky Bollywood stars like Siddharth Malhotra, Ranveer Singh and Ranbir Kapoor swear by Shantanu-Nikhil’s creations and love to wear kurtas and bolero jackets designed by the celebrated designers. Shantanu and Nikhil’s clientele love their creations which are high on minimalism yet scream craftsmanship at its best. The duo's popularity reflects the current state of men's wedding fashion, which is geared towards traditional outfits with contemporary elements.

After the opening of Kolkata store, the designer duo is looking forward to another store opening at Kala Ghoda in Mumbai in March 2016, follwed by one in Ahmedabad.
