It feels that it was only recently that Masaba Gupta was applauded for being chosen as the Creative Head for the lifestyle brand Satya Paul. Gupta, who was only 23, was the youngest person so far to take the position. Two years on and Gupta announces that as her contract with the brand is coming to an end, and that she has chosen not to renew it. Further more, Gupta has said that though she had a good two years with the brand, they have both now "drifted apart".
Gupta has also announced that she feels that the brand felt she could have done better with her time there, and that nothing was really coming out of it, so they mutually decided to go their own ways. When asked if she had any regrets while working for the brand, Gupta stated that she wished she had taken more control with the brand and the day-to-day activities she was given, but that she would probably go back to brand in the future, when she feels she’s more equipped to handle a big brand.
Masaba Gupta, however, is far too busy to let this predicament affect her and her current career. She is now working on exclusive lines of clothing for Fiama di Wills shower gels and for the ecommerce portals Myntra and Stylista, while also designing a number of collections for her own label. But that is not all, she is also in associations with food companies and home decor brands. When contacted, Satya Paul said that Gupta added a freshness into the label and that they were very happy with the results.
