Everybody wants to be part of the Indian fashion industry, but unfortunately just few people manage to be part of this closed community. The barriers to entry are high and people must prove their right to be part of this world. Well, 11 new models just found the way to unlock the door of this universe: the auditions to participate at the Lakmé Fashion Week 2015 have just finished and the 11 winners have been selected from amongst 130 competitors.
The jury was composed by a group of well known experts in the fashion field, such as the organisers Saket Shankar and Purnima Lamba, top model Sarah Jane Dais, photographer Rohan Shrestha and two choreographers Lubna Adams and Rashmi Virmani. The competition was not easy at all for the girls!
However, easy or not, everything is now ready for the much awaited Indian fashion show! Models are chosen for the Grand Finale - the names are known and the divas showcasing have been selected. This year everything seems to be perfect, and indeed everything should be perfect! That is because this year is the celebration of the 15 years for Lakmé Fashion Week.
The show is organised by the well-known cosmetic label, Lakmé twice a year. Before these shows, new models have the possibility to be selected and launched for the first time in the Indian fashion market. Indeed the Lakmé Fashion Week has the privilege of having introduced in the past successful models such as Yana Gupta and Kanishtha Dhankar.
Thus this event is also about the most beautiful faces for the future fashion industry and not just the fashion itself. All the models are chosen from around the country and the show is appreciated not just by Indian fashionistas, but also by people from numerous countries. Who will be the next top model among the 11 selected this year? We will see in the next days.
The celebration will take place on the 17th of March, while the full event with the different showcases is due to be held at the Palladium Hotel in Mumbai, between the 18th and 20th of March.
On one hand, the opening designer of the season will be Sabyasachi Mukherjee, who participated for the first time in Lakmé Fashion Week in 2002 and is really affectionate to the show. On the other hand, the designer closing the event is the renowned Anamika Khanna. The designer's collection will celebrate the modern Indian woman. Anamika is famous for her capability to combine traditional elements into modern styles and now can’t wait to showcase her unique creations expressly made for the event.
39 other designers will participate in this season of Lakmé Fashion Week, including Parul Bhargava from Paris and Shon Randhawa from London - and the tension cannot be higher!
