The beginning of this year has been incredibly exciting for Indian fashion with two amazing Fashion Weeks. The designer Rahul Mishra won the International Woolmark Prize and the designer and environmentalist Wendell Rodricks was awarded the Padma Shri. However what everyone seems to be particularly enthusiastic about is the number of Rs 100 crore.

The designer Ritu Kumar has announced that Everstone, the leading real estate investor has purchased Rs 100 crore of her brand. This is a fantastic opportunity for expanding her already successful business. Ritu Kumar has now entrusted a lot of her company to her son Amrish, whose interest in retail expansion has resulted in this investment.

Anita Dongre has General Atlantic as her investor and has taken in Rs 100 crore profit last year. This year she will be exceeding this with Rs 350 crore. Her bridal label is mass market and supports haute fashion. Her brother is also her CEO.

There are also some designers who are so successful in terms of self-promotion that they could sell anything. Sabyasachi Mukherjee has announced a Rs 100 crore turnover. His success is without the help of investors. His numbers come from his independent enterprises as well as his bridal collections.

Manish Malhotra’s fashion label is very unique and he brings in Rs 108 crore turnover. His fashion is supported by Bollywood glamour. He showcases a multitude of collections a year.
