Ranna Gill recently announced that her next collection will transport fashion watchers to the marvelous Island of Mauritius. It will be first showcased at Lakme Fashion Week - which is to start on August 23. In collaboration with Mauritius Tourism, the Indian designer’s 2014 line will bring the colors and sights of the country alive on the catwalk.
Gill’s new line is inspired by Mauritius "beaches, the surf, the landscape, the flora and fauna, as well as the glamour and shopping", she said. The designer used intense and fluorescent colors and fabrics such as lace, chiffon and net. "Apart from some neons, you’ll see the colors of the beach – sandy whites, turquoise blues, corals and sea greens", she added.
Ranna developed a new print - called the Photographic Palms – and used it mostly on swimwear. She also created elephant and floral prints to keep the spirits of the Indian Ocean island.
