Indian Designer Raakesh Agarwal Shoulder Trend
Dress Like a Greek Goddess
22 nd Jun 2010

Channel your Grecian avatar and don a one shoulder outfit this summer. The new manifestation is effortlessly chic and comes in variations, from playsuits for the day to shimmering dresses for the night. Anand Kabra’s Spring Summer 2010 collection saw an array of one-shoulder dresses reminiscent of Greek goddesses. “It’s a nice way to show skin and is chic instead of being too much in your face like a strapless dress” says the designer.

Raakesh Agarwal who swears by the one shoulder trend says, “This trend will always remain hot, when you do a one shoulder, it’s a teaser. It’s my favorite trend and I’m going to do it every season.” This season, one-shoulder outfits play with textures and silhouettes. Opt for a shift dress or, accentuate your girly personality by wearing a dress with ruffles or drapes. Gaurav Gupta who also showcased the trend at Wills Lifestyle Fashion Week earlier this year, says, “Collarbone is the nicest body part to expose, it looks sensual”.

In agreement, Anand Kabra suggests applying bronzer to your shoulders for a nice toned look. The key to pull of this look is to keep it minimalistic. Look sexy with simple accessories, Gaurav recommends wearing only one earring and or carrying a jazzy clutch to glam it up for a night out in town. Raakesh would rather have women wear his shimmer body con one shoulder dresses with no accessories and opt for slick hair, nude make-up and killer heels for maximum impact.
