Rajesh Pratap Singh's Spring/Summer 2013 showcased a collection that was created after a period of prolonged physical illness. One of the most respected progressionists in Indian fashion, the designer sent out an army of gothic queens drenched in black, as if he'd deemed colour no longer fashionable.
The collection's most startling detail came in the form of 3D texture that highlighted, almost recreated, the spinal column. On one sheath dress, bows crisscrossed down the sliced-open back, mimicking the shape of interlocking vertebrae. Rajesh Pratap developed on manmade materials -- silver, steel, gold and aluminium -- to find new fabrics that would do his bidding.
