The Indo-French Chamber of Commerce and Industry organised an India Luxury Summit where luxury brands and fashion designers debated imperative issues concerning crafts, hospitality, lifestyle and travel.
Mumbai and Delhi based fashion designer Rahul Mishra spoke about luxury crafts and the need to popularise them for international fashion ramps so that they get the attention they deserve. To do this he said "We need to present our craft heritage in the most contemporary and conceptual way”. In addition Mishra praised the Indo-French luxury alliance for helping to create cultural and artistic collaborations that are “among the most powerful in the world.”
Fashion designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee contributed to an important discussion about counterfeit products which are still being widely sold. He recalled the time that he visited Chandni Chowk and a man tried to sell a fake Sabya to him.
Counterfeit products are problematic because they are often made very cheaply and in bulk and are then sold at much cheaper prices than the original. It remains a big issue within the fashion industry and is one that still needs to be appropriately addressed.
