Raakesh Agarvwal has started a new chapter in his design career by launching a denimwear line at the SS15 edition of the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week. Raakesh was inspired to launch this line made from the long-lasting material. In the designer's words, “I went to Ozora music festival and I noticed that people there are so involved in music that some of them don’t change their clothes for many days. There were lot of people in tarted and distressed denims. So this season, I have launched my denim line which has been made of mill fabric. They are high-end denim fabrics,”
The designer added, “My love for denim is obvious from the fact that I always wear denim. It is very close to my heart. I also wanted to launch my ready-to-wear line and I don’t think my ready-to-wear line is complete without denim.”. Raakesh Agarvwal's collection features distressed denim and destresed versions of the fabric in white with coloured touches. “I am also in talks with factories to do the licensing now and they will distribute for me”.
Raakesh also re-invented his older collections from '08 and '09 - adding a fresh twist to these styles - and presenting them on the ramp. The styles featured intricate cuts and detailing that is trademark Raakesh. “The whole collection was little flashback for me. I have revisited my collections from 2008 and 2009 archives. I have revisited a lot of chiffon and other things in this collection. It was a collection that was based on previous time but has been given a contemporary fit.”
“There were jumpsuits made of 30 metre fabric... then there were gowns made of 40 metre fabric. The entire collection is so light that when a woman wears it, she will feel light. The world is moving towards lightness, so I am doing the same. Also, each denim is made of approximately 400gm or 500gm,” said the designer.
