The Indian fashion designer Payal Singhal will be showcasing her latest collection called Lady Sahara which is inspired by French Moroccan architecture and culture at the Lakme Fashion Week in Mumbai. She draws her inspiration from the 1900’s when the French occupied Morocco. Throughout the collection she contrasts the colours and textures used from the different cultures. The designer has tried to incorporate the Islamic iconography of Marrakech.
The main part of Payal Singhal’s collection will focus on silhouettes that are simple and clean and that define her style. The designs she will be showcasing at Lakme Fashion Week will be a combination of muted colours such as grey, rose, sand and cerulean blue. She also uses complex detailing of gold, silver and graphic prints that evokes the Moroccan filigree work.
