Designer Masaba Gupta has yet to endeavour in to the world of bridal wear, but if she ever does decide to give bridal wear the green light she would like to design something quirky as well as affordable.
"There are so many other options that are there in the market for bridal wear. There are outfits that are loud, blingy and then there are sophisticated. I need to put my design aesthetic into my bridal look otherwise there would be no difference. I would like to do something more affordable...I don't find it correct to spend so much on a bridal outfit," explained Masaba Gupta.
For someone who speaks with so much passion on a topic, the question must be asked, since launching her label in 2009 why is she yet to try her hand at bridal wear? Perhaps it is because she claims that she doesn’t know much about some of the integral components of bridal wear such as fabrics, cuts and embroidery.
Masaba Gupta whose forte lies in her work with interesting printing with draping and silhouettes explained that she "needs to understand what she needs to do in bridal first". In March, Masaba announced her engagement to Madhu Mantena and there has since been much speculation as to whether or not she will be designing her own bridal wear.
The daughter of veteran actress Neena Gupta and retired cricketer Vivian Richards claimed that she would wear one her designs for a smaller function (not specifying what functions) but for the bigger functions will wear another designer (once again not specifying).
