As Bangalore got ready for the 25th Kingfisher Derby this afternoon, the season’s most stylish event for the fashionistas, here’s a lowdown on what’s hot and what’s not. Boho chic: The Derby dress code must ooze a relaxed free spirited vibe. Boho chic is the way to go. Polka dots and florals continue to remain designers’ favourites. Feeling floral: Designer Manoviraj Khosla, says, “Since it’s a day event, keep it dressy and glam, colourful with character, yet understated. Digital prints in florals look very trendy. You can also try a combo of digital and floral prints. Even jumpsuits in digital prints look very chic. "Men will look dapper in linen suits and play with subtle colours instead of the usual blacks and navy blues. White, off white and pastel well-fitted linen suits in mint green, soft baby pink, light blue are the perfect hues for a trendy derby day out. Team them with a coloured suede moccasin and a slim tie in a solid colour and you’re all set.” Au natural: It’s solids that find place in designer Anu Nagappa’s fashion chart. Hats off: Manoviraj says, “You can go completely OTT with the hats. The more extravagant, the more derby it is. The VIP lounge area in our turf club is not too big, so it’s better to go smaller on the hat size.” Nargis Fakhri who drew the lots at the pre-derby night party says, “For the Derby, you usually see women go glamorous with beautiful dresses and funky hats. I like to keep accessories to a minimum, letting my outfit do all the talking. ” _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Shop Indian Designer Manoviraj Khosla's Collections at Strand of Silk
