A gorgeous embroidered Manish Malhotra lehenga that was showcased at the India Couture Week 2016 in his collection titled ‘The Persian Story’. The colours of the lehenga, along with the exquisite detailing bear the signature Manish Malhotra touch - they look right out of a Bollywood movie. The striking contrast between the pieces and the fluidic design of the outfit had us floored at the first glance!

Featuring a metallic blouse and a contrast red lehenga paired with a floor length net jacket and a dupatta, the Manish Malhotra lehenga is every bride’s dream come true.

The cropped blouse has been cut deep, almost like an off-shoulder top and is adorned with multicolour thread embroidery in floral motifs all over its body. Quarter sleeves and the pastel tone of the silk blouse lend it a vintage appeal. Its deep neck lets you flaunt your collar bones or even show off your statement neckpiece in style.

The highlight of this Manish Malhotra lehenga set is the extravagant high waisted velvet skirt in a deep red hue. A can-can lining adds tremendous volume to the lehenga to make you feel like a queen. Brilliant golden dabka embroidery on the skirt adds an old-worldly charm to the ensemble which complements the blouse beautifully. The lavish velvet fabric and the lush flare of this Manish Malhotra lehenga make it a heavy piece but it is a small price to pay in return for its ornate appeal. The absence of embellishments along the border of the lehenga is a fresh treatment, at least by Malhotra’s standards and gives the skirt a contemporary touch.

In keeping with the Persian inspiration that the collection is based on, this Manish Malhotra lehenga is finished with sleeveless jacket. The barely there floor length chocolate brown net jacket is trimmed with a satin border that matches the ornate dupatta. The jacket is a unique addition to this ensemble which sets it apart from the run of the mill bridal lehengas. Completing this set is a rich metallic satin dupatta featuring matching gold thread work embroidery in floral motifs along its scalloped edges.

Considering the multiple colours in the outfit, the pieces that make up this Manish Malhotra lehenga can even be worn as separates for various occasions, making it an investment that is totally worth it!
