Designers like Sabyasachi and Tarun Tahiliani are extremely busy at this time with packed schedules. Customers even need to give a substantial deposit when booking an appointment with these designers.
Designer Manish Malhotra was recently in Hyderabad to showcase his new bridal collection and many present at the show were seen seeking his advice on wedding wear. The designer also mentioned that his schedule is completely full during December with the number of weddings around this time. He points out that sometimes it becomes very hectic as many orders are placed and some of them can even take more than three months to make.
Manish Malhotra also mentions that Kashmiri and mirror work is trending while hues of red are back in style with people experimenting with shades of grey as well. Known for his lavish outfits, the designer’s bridal wear can be priced around INR 12 Lakhs (approximately £12,000) and lehengas for sangeet ceremonies can be priced at INR 4 Lakh (approximately 4,000 pounds).
Smita Shroff, owner of popular designer shop Elahe states that wedding shopping usually takes place around Diwali. She also mentions that earlier people had the notion that the clothes in Hyderabad featured old trends but this notion has changed recently as people now believe the shopping in Hyderabad is even better than other cities. She also points out that the spending power differs between customers as some see these outfits as one time wear while others buy outfits that they can repeat.
