Manish Malhotra has been chosen as the designer to open India Couture Week, which begins on 20th July at the Taj Palace Hotel.
Not only is Malhotra famed for creating iconic looks in Bollywood movies, but he is also respected for his efforts to rejuvenate traditional Indian crafts such as the Benarasi weave and Chikankari.
Malhotra was incredibly excited and overwhelmed by being asked to be the opening designer because his success in Delhi started six years ago when he was asked to exhibit at India Couture Week, something he says gave him so much valuable exposure. July is also a special month for Manish Malhotra because it marks the 11 year anniversary of his brand.
Sunil Sethi, the president of the Fashion Design Council said that he was very much looking forward to Manish’s opening show and was sure it would set a very high bar for the rest of the week, with his sophisticated and dreamy silhouettes.
He continued by saying that “Manish’s association with the FDCI has been special and he will set the rhythm of the ICW 2016 with his stunning rendition of true Indian craftsmanship and unmatched elegance.
