Manish Arora: Maang Teeka as Bold Accessory

A new trend in jewellery has emerged from the recently concluded Aamby Valley India Bridal Week and the latest edition of India International Jewellery Week (IIJW): this season the accent was definitely put on the traditional version of the maang teeka.

Matured from a delicate single-drop look to a bold accessory that adorns the entire hairline, the fast emerging maang teeka appeared to be Manish Arora’s favourite piece of the season: the designer revisited it both in terms of size and styling for his couture show at the recently concluded Delhi Couture Week.

As Yash Agarwal, creative director of Birdhichand Ghanshyamdas Jewellers, explained: "Brides these days don't shy away from going all out with jewellery choices on their D-day. The maang teeka is now as important a part of the bridal set as the main neckpiece".
