International fashion shows and runways have had a long-lasting romantic affair with Indian fashion – whether it be with the patterns, embroidery or shapes, the pleasing fact has frequently been pushed to the borders of applauding global style. Placing Indian designers, chancers and muses back onto the world map, a special celebration was held by the founder and editor-in-chief of the UK-based website The Business of Fashion (BoF), Imran Ahmad, alongside Bollywood fashionista Sonam Kapoor to present the second annual #BoF500 publication at Le cirque restaurant.

In a very exclusive interview with MAIL TODAY, Imran stated that’s in 2006, when he began the fashion blog as a hobby, the fashion industry was actually quite allergic to technology and blogs were unheard of. Today Imran’s website commands a worldwide following that investigates fashion as a business. He also stated that very often fashion is represented in the mainstream media as a glamorous, un-willing group of people, but that he thinks it is a very fascinating industry that's motivated by extremely talented people.

Co-host of the entire evening, Sonam Kappor put together an exciting look in a dress by Spanish designer Delpozo, combined with a Judith Leiber 'Little Black Book' clutch bag, Louis Vuitton shoes and Nirav Modi earrings. The well-known fashionista has been featured in the Business of Fashion 500 list that commends 500 leaders of the global fashion industry. The stylista said that she was honoured to be a part of the list because it's the first of its kind, and that It's extremely current and prestigious with a world wide platform. She further said that she doesn’t look at fashion as simple just clothes to wear, that she also considers it to be an art. She stated that for her fashion defines what a current era looks like.

When discussing her international looks, she stated that she always try and wear an Indian designer for at least one event she attends and that If she’s getting photographed, she likes to combine Indian elements and wear young designers.

Guests who attended the event included designers  such as Manish Arora, Manish Malhotra, Tarun Tahiliani, Anamika, Rohit Gandhi & Rahul Khanna, David Abraham & Narresh amongst others.
