India Runway Week is a unique fashion week for the new and upcoming designers to showcase their talent. The opening of the event by Indian Federation For Fashion Development swiftly began with the collection of Dolly J and Kirti Rathore, whose creative embellishment and sophisticated designs are perfect for today’s modern and strong women. To represent this collection, Laxmi Shah - the acid attack victim, who has been nominated for the prestigious International Women of courage award, walked the ramp looking stunning!
This was followed by designs showcased by W for Women - the fashion label, adding an extremely personal message to the meaning of women’s fashion. The collection was brightly coloured, highly textured and intricately detailed in comfortable styles. Next was the collection showcasing grandeur royal lehengas and stunning floor length gowns by Rosy Ahluwalia. She used a number of stones and embellishments such zardozi, swaroski and Zariwork to give a sparkling look to her complete collection. Next displayed were designs by Kavita Gogna and Aarti Tripathi, who offered an Indian wear collection dominated by soft pastel shades giving it a slightly traditional yet at the same time modern twist. The closing show of day one was a beautiful and show stopping bridal jewellery collection by Akassh K Aggarwal.
Day 2 of the shows Began with Megha Kumari and Jigar Mali. The Duo’s designs were inspired by giant manmade structures, where they used polyester and net for the creations. Their show was then followed by Tanya Pandey, with her collection of classy cocktail gowns in a variety of dusty pastels and Nudes. The third collection of the day was presented by designer Rashi Kapoor, she specialised in Indo-western designs for the ramp. The collection was dominated by brightly coloured fabrics like georgette, net and brocade that added brightness to the range. After the brightness and bling displayed by Rashi Kapoor, Fahd Khatri presented his Men’s range with smart ethnic Jackets in stylish fabrics such as satins and cottons.
We then saw flowy dresses by Roli and Saurabh Khandelwal who showcased their collection in basic colours and satin materials. Followed by the duo, Kshitija Rana who came with her collection of blended rich fashion and royalty, showcasing exclusive designer-wear for Indian Brides and Weddings, the visualisation of the designer Kshitija Rana is said to bring its customers an exclusive desirable collection of Lehengas, Sarees and Salwar Suits in quality fabric and finest designs.
At the Grand Finale of India Runway Week 2014, we saw a beautiful collection by Designer Varija Bajaj, having young children walk alongside the models in her collection which included vibrant colours and unconventional ideas with an undeniable element of Fun. This was then followed by a spellbinding show called 5X by Designer Ajit Kumar which displayed his fusion collection in counteracting colours such as Aqua Blue, Grey shades, Red, Green and Yellow.
The event finally came to an end with a show by Designer Amrita Sethi’s collection of stunning floor length designs for women.
