The fashion show in Puducherry, Fusion without Confusion, integrated the West and East, embracing both Indian and European cultural clothing. Other design integrations were with modernity and tradition, past and present.
Whilst famous Bollywood tunes played in the background students of Lycee Francaise modeled Manisha Sen Gupta’s collection.
Manisha stated, “The idea behind my collections is that they appeal both to an Indian audience as well as the Western one. I held a show a couple of years ago at the French Consulate, and I thought I would do something different this year and donate the proceeds of the show to CERTH India.”
CERTH India is a charitable organization started in 1983 to raise money towards the elimination of leprosy in India. They have now expanded to focus on educating underprivileged children and creating a rehabilitation centre for the physically challenged.
All the models in the show were between the ages of 14 and 17 and the choreography was by a Lycee student who had worked with Gaur Kala.
