The final day of the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week 14 was characterised by a sense of nostalgia mixed with feeling of celebration for the accomplishment of another season of the fashion world. The show started with Dolly J, who showcased a colourful collection inspired by French Queen Marie Antoinette and defined by the designer as “juvenile but regal”.
Joy Mitra followed with an elegant and classic line of womenswear, named after Rituparno Ghosh’s film Chokher Bali. The colour palette focused on white and black using cotton and sheer fabrics, while the collection included beautiful long floor length gowns with brass coloured embroidery and thick gold borders.
A contemporary shift was given to the event by Vaishali S. who showcased her collection of long dresses and gowns, including cutwork dresses, palazzo pants and shrugs which looked already perfect for Indian summers.
Finally, also noteworthy was the pret collection designed by Ashish Viral and Vikrant, who decided to promote their home-grown indigo dye by opening the show with a cotton indigo long dress and by showcasing block printed dresses, jackets, pants and skirts worked using Kantha and Aari embroidery. The fashion night ended with a glamorous party hosted jointly by Fashion Design Council of India, president Sunil Sethi, and the Ashok Hotel.
