It was an affair steeped in style, fashion and glamour as the film fraternity gathered to celebrate B-town’s best dressed at the Filmfare Glamour and Style Awards. The event took place at Taj Lands End in Mumbai last week and brought the who's who of Bollywood to the red carpet.
Actor Shah Rukh Khan was named the Global Icon of the Year and he also took away the award for the Most Glamourous Star (Male). Deepika Padukone walked away with the award for the Most Glamourous Star (Female), an award that we think was well deserved.
Among the other prominent winners was Sonam Kapoor who won the award for the Most Stylish Star (Female). She wowed us in a pink Michael Cinco ruffled gown that she paired with nude pumps.
Alia Bhat came dressed in a sophisticated black and white George Chakra dress which she wore with Jimmy Choo pumps. Black and white seemed to be the combination of choice for the evening with both Malaika Arora Khan and Aditi Rao Hyadri walking the red carpet in monochrome outfits. Malaika looked ravishing in a black and white Isabel Sanchis ruffled dress while Aditi sported a chic appearance in a white Zara top paired with a black Abu-Sandeep ruffled skirt.
Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan were awarded the Most Glamourous Real-Life Couple while Deepika and Ranveer Singh walked away with the award for the Most Glamourous On-Screen Couple. If you asked us, we’d say that Ranveer Singh took the cake for being the best dressed person on the red carpet that evening. He nailed the wacky look in an oriental grey suit paired with sandals and upped his game with his twirly moustache. It did not come as a surprise that he was also crowned the Most Stylish Star (Male). We think he deserves every bit of the attention and adulations that he is currently receiving because when it comes to daring fashion choices, there is nobody else in Bollywood that does it half as good as him.
Jacquline Fernandez took home the statuette for the Emerging Face of Fashion (Female). She was dressed in a stunning cream embellished dress done up in sheer. Her slick hairdo and smoky eyes made her look every bit the fashionista to reckon with. Varun Dhawan, looked dapper (and colourful!) in a black and blue blazer that he teamed with black pants, a black shirt and brown shoes as he picked up the award for the Emerging Face of Fashion (Male).
Given that it was an event to celebrate the stylish best of Bollywood, the evening was brimming with celebrities who put their most fashionable foot forward. It is heartening to see an entire award ceremony dedicated to fashion given that it is such an integral part of Bollywood today and film stars are the fashion icons that the country looks up to.
