India Social and Cultural Centre in association with NMC & UAE Exchange Centre organized the most awaited prestigious Fashion Show 2011 which was participated by 17 most beautiful ladies from U.A.E in the age group of 18 to 35.
The program began with a colorful welcome dance choreographed by Ms. Asha Nair followed by an introduction of all the participant by emcee of the day Mithun Ramesh (radio jockey of Radio 96.7, Dubai). The contestants competed in three rounds namely: Traditional Indian Dress and Western attire and the final round. The contest was adjudged three judges who were carefully selected based on their experience namely Mr. Richard D’Souza, a well-known Mangalorean personality in U.A.E, Ms. Krishna Tulsimohanan (Former Miss Kerala), Miss. Farzana Praveen (Miss UAE 2011) and Ms. Mini Sharma (MD of 7 Media) .
Earlier Hon. Gen Secretary (I.S.C) M.A.Salam welcomed the gathering and wished all contestants good luck. Hon President Mr. Ramesh Panicker appreciated the support of main sponsors especially NMC & U.A.E exchange centre for extending their generous support for all the programs of the centre.
In the traditional round, the contestants walked the ramp displaying colourful Indian traditional dresses followed by Western dresses. After round two, only eight were contestants were selected for the final round. The seventeen participants took place in this contest were Leann Michelle Vas, Zaiba Ashad, Sukanya Sudhakaran, Suja Mejo, Neethu Mol Baby, Mikki Koshy Mathew, Harman Jot, Nehaa Chomal, Rohini unnikrishnan, Sherin Sabu, Ruchika Kalra, Preethi rehnsi, Aisha Thameema, Aparna Sathyadas, Mothe Thomas, Kavita Raghu and Shweta Bhat.
In the judges round each contestant was tested with one each question by two judges wherein they were tested with their general knowledge on current issues. This was the decision making round for the three top spots. It was Miss Ruchika Kalra who won the hearts of judges and audience when she answered two very difficult questions put forward by two judges. Question No. 1 was by Miss. Farzana Praveen wherein she asked: “If you are a book and If I am searching for a page would it be and why?? Miss Ruchika gave the perfect Answer saying: If you are looking for a page in my book the page would be this very moment, right here and right now. Because what I am today and it is calumniation of all the experience I had in my life, both positive and Negative and that’s what truly makes me what I am today and proud to be what I am. If you see this page you will see a lot of depth within.” She received a huge round of applause for this lovely and perfect answer.
The second question asked by Judge Ms.Tulsimohan was “If you are to be liked and respected what would you choose and why??” Once again Ruchika Answered without a blink: “If I would be liked and to be respected because, what experience I had, I realized that you are not always liked for the good work you do but you are respected for it, then you will definitely be liked in the long run. However if you are liked today, it is not necessary that you will be respected tomorrow.”
At the end of the day Miss. Ruchika Kalra (Daughter of Dr. Alka Kalra) proved right in the judges round and won the prestigious ISC Fashion Show Queen crown followed by Miss Aparna Satyadas (Daughter of Sobhana) as 1st runner up and Mangalorean beauty Leann Vas (daughter of Dolphy Vas) adjudged as second runner up (including best smile). They were honoured with fabulous prizes in the presence of a house full audience. Miss Harman Jot won the Beautiful Costume title.
The audience was entertained with a few Bollywood dances choreographed by Asha Nair during the breaks. All the main sponsors including Mr. Sudhir Kumar Shetty (Main Sponsor) was felicitated by Mr. Ramesh Panicker.
The show was well co-ordinated and organized under the leadership of Hon Entertainment Secretary Ashok Kumar The vote of thanks was proposed by Vice-president John P Varghese.
The perfect sound system/LCD Screen, and Videography was provided by Joel Crasta of Broadway Sounds. The winners were treated with lots of prizes given away by sponsors amounting to Dhs. 25,000 and many other gift hampers.
