International fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld paid an ode to Indian / desi styles and trends. Mumbai was in Paris, as the renowned designer presented his Paris-Bombay collection during the Metiers D'Art show for fashion house Chanel in Paris on Tuesday. The pre-fall collection combined ethnic lines, fabrics and motifs with western patterns, silhouette and structure. A rich tribute to Indian design landscape as brought to life by the Chanel workshops.
Actor and India's style icon Sonam Kapoor attended the show wearing a black and white dress from Chanel's spring 2012 collection, while internationally acclaimed Freida Pinto, a Chanel fan, chose to attend the event dressed in a blue number also from the label's spring 2012 collection. The young stars came together for a picture-perfect finish.
Anarkali kurtas had been transformed from Maharaja coats and saris into flowy tunics, structured dresses and sari gowns. Models sashayed down the runway in churidaar pants, achkan style dresses and dhoti skirts that were teamed with tweed jackets.
