Everyone tries to reduce their carbon footprint looking for tips on the internet and recycling at home or at work, but how green are the clothes you're wearing?
Since 1980 the West has started to produce more organic and sustainable clothes and Indian fashion is trying to create awareness among buyers for this kind of fashion.
India has a big presence at Nuremberg's BioFach and Vivaness Trade Fairs which are held every year. For example there are the products of companies like EcoFarms or Appachi Cotton, promoters of organic cotton. There's also Pratibha Syntex Ltd, which covers around 8000 farmers or Navdanya by Dr Vandana Shiva with the hottest selling line of organic clothing.
Trying to bring this movement to the young designers, the Consortium of Green Fashion (CGF) has created a Fashion contest in which they use their creativity to ‘reduce, reuse, recycle and be responsible’.
